If you have duct tape and a short blade then you can attach it to the spear, increasing the damage and durability. Wood axe = highest damage inflicte ingame. Is prolly as one shotty as a katana. (never found one!) Spiked bbbat 60% or so damage of Wood axe, easier to repair and lasts longer. Machetes, on the other hand, have slower swing speeds but still offer reliable damage with a 20% chance to critically hit. Without guns, you really need a good killing zone that's clear. Line them up single file. Once you get 3+ side by side, they'll swarm you. You have to reposition them around in a circle until you can get a long enough path to string them out single file. 2 tops.
