My 1986 Mercury 150 XR2 Black Max cranks up and runs but when I put in the water it will not go the engine will die. I checked the fire and 3 cylinders are not firing. If you run without thermostats the water is circulating too fast and doesn't allow the cylinder head to run at the proper temperature and doesn't allow the cooling water to take the heat from the engine.
