Go to the achievement menu ingame and track the no-spoon achievement, that will ensure you still have everything valid. When making a new map, set: This will ensure you never ever have to deal with a biter, but still keep the achievement enabled. It is absolutely cheesing to be sure, but everything goes.

I think they are trying to say, nefrum (the world record holder) researches the rocket silo 5 mins before they launch the rocket. After I got this achievement (beat the game in under 8 hours), I looked around and was a bit surprised that I couldn't find an in-depth guide to getting it. (Aside from YouTube tutorials, but personally I hate those.)
A slightly larger investment in belts and assemblers and inserters is not going to be very important. Michael Hendricks has a No Spoon on Default Settings guide that manages it in 6-8 hours with 45 science/minute for red/green/blue (5/6/12 tier 2 assemblers) with even less for the yellow and purple science at the end.
In 1.0 you can do that in 103. But you can use the guide with hand crafting if you want to just launch a rocket before 8h. The crafts are 1 steam generator, 1 off shore pump, 1 lab, 10 red science, 1 power pole, 1 boiler (you need to use the furnace if you want to avoid a craft), and 1 assembler 1 (once science has been researched) 1.
