I'm associated with a program in podiatry and here's my experience with your points. For context, I guess you could say I had this "mega urge" to go into podiatry. I saw the issues with the traditional path (long hours, emotional abuse, burnout) and found out podiatry let me cherry-pick the things I like about medicine.
