Posted July 30, 2010. The only advantage of the Super Nova is the interchangable butt stock. But, I don't believe Benelli makes one that is 1" shorter, which is the only one worth changing to. I also am not a fan of pistol grip shotguns. For me, the pistol grip slows down transitions.Since they're both in the $500 price range I think the Mossberg has an edge up over the Benelli. Thanks. I'm thinking since the Mossberg 590 has gone through mil-spec testing, and passed, that my brother might want it over the Benelli. The other pros I can think of with the Mossberg is that it has a bayonet lug and larger tube capacity. The bayonet lug is unncessary imo but to have it as an option might be worth it.

Some other models don't offer them and it costs you more to put on. I have shot my brother-in-laws 870 express before and it is comparible to the Nova in recoil using the 2 3/4 inch shells. I happen to like the looks of the Nova and I love the synthetic material.Plus, the Supernova comes with the ComforTech stock, which is pretty slick. Supernova is a top of the line Pump gun that will last and function forever. The 3500 is a good semi that may last and function forever. Both have less recoil than a standard 870, but the 3500 should be the lesser of the two.Remington 870. Doesn't kick as much as the 835 and not as bulky as the nova. Best pump that has ever been made.
