The best weapon is the one you enjoy using. The mace is not a bad strength weapon. Can't go wrong with a Longsword. It's one of the most versatile weapons for both pve and pvp (top tier in pvp), and after beating the game with nothing but the LS, imo if I had to pick just one weapon, it would be the Longsword, no contest. For weapons, just pick something lightweight, with relatively low stat reqs, and magic/enchant infuse it. Magic I would say is the best choice so that you can stack the damage with Magic Weapon/Great Magic Weapon. Weapons like the Hand Axe, Longsword, Battle Axe, will all do well. Weapons with higher base Damage are best for elemental infusion.

With three innate damage types (Physical, Magical, Lightning), an S DEX scaling, and an insane counter strength of 140, you definitely don’t want to be on the wrong end of this blade. Anyway, Poison Claws are actually pretty good at inflicting both stats, don't ask me why. The L1-4-hit-combo is part of the reason, I guess. The Mirrah GS is a quality-weapon, btw.
