It’s got some darn good backcountry skiing. Check out missoulaavalanche.org for current skiing and avy conditions. Look at where other people are skiing and google how to get to those places. It took me a good solid 15 years of living there to get a good foundation of where to go. Of course snow conditions, road conditions, etc…. Missoula and Montana are great in the summer months but the winters are long and dark. Winter feels like it lasts for 8 months out of the year. If you want to move here, Id strongly recommend visiting in the winter to see if your family likes it. I struggle myself cause I go to work in the dark and leave in the dark.
