Just a heads up, your heat shield has to be tight enough to the bbl so that the 3 screws bite into the bbl or it will move under recoil. I built a model 12 trench a few years ago. Turned out great. I also have a 1897 norinco trench. The heat shield for this was from East Taylor. It needed work. Good luck with your build.

The 1897 was modified by adding a perforated steel heat shield over the barrel which protected the hand of the user from the barrel when if it became over-heated.
